My biggest 'Focus' for 2016.. Is ME

I don't want to say resolution because we all know those get broken but I'm really focused on bettering myself. We live in such a difficult world where we are constantly comparing ourselves to others and I know I often feel inadequate to the next, it's disheartening and difficult to live with. So this year I vow to focus on ME - Rediscovering what I love, making myself feel better within myself and generally making more time to stop and have ME time! 

Here's what I've been doing in that ME time.. 

Getting back on track with health 
I know it's so cliche - 'New Year, New Me!' but since the 1st January I have really looked after myself. I'm back to clean living - eating frequently, cooking almost everything from scratch and working out regularly. I'd let myself go towards the end of the last year, I had no routine and no motivation. At present I'm working out 4/5 times a week mixing things up with gym classes, running outdoors and HIIT home workouts. I feel so much better within myself, my energy levels have increased and I'm setting myself goals. I discovered The Body Coach (Joe Wicks) on Instagram a few months ago and I've since become obsessed with his #LeanIn15 movement - I purchased his cookbook and I've been loving some of the quick, easy and CLEAN recipes. His energy is amazing and even if you don't want to buy the book his 15 second Insta cooking videos will have you sold. When I work out from home I usually follow his HIIT workouts from the book or over on his YouTube channel. He's a laugh and I like that, it's encouraging and it helps that he's super cute

Serial Podcast 
My brother is forever recommending things for me to listen to be it music, or interviews - The list goes on. Over Christmas he was raving about the Serial Podcast - as I usually do I nod in agreement with no real intention of actually checking it out (Haha! Sorry Hamza). I don't really know what changed this time, I was at the gym on the tredmill power walking on a 15 incline and instead of listening to my usual hype hip hop I thought I would give the podcast a go - Can I just make something clear, I am NOT a Podcast kind of girl. I'm visual, I like to see things, watch a tv show or a movie and before this I had never listened to an audio book or podcasts. Anyway I digress, I put on the first episode and I was HOOKED - 1 hour I was on that treadmill and I refused to get off till the episode was over. I've only listened to season 1 but I finished it within a day - It's a true story about a murder case which examines both sides of the story and really gets you thinking whether the man who's currently serving a life sentence is instead innocent, it's honestly an incredible story and I don't want to say anymore but I really can't recommend it enough. 

Getting Creative Again
I've always been a creative individual, I loved art as a kid and all throughout school, I even have a degree in Arts Management but to be honest, over the years I lost my connection with it. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed painting and how therapeutic it can be, it's a great way to escape our busy, sometimes over complicated lives. Towards the end of last year I started an art class and it was the best thing I've done in a long time - 2 hours, just me, some paints a sketchpad and  NO PHONE. As a result I've been making time in the evenings to dabble a little in my paints. Over Christmas I got so many amazing adult colouring books (Pictured above, Vogue & Parisian Style), which I've loved getting into - there's something so relaxing about the process. I urge you all to get creative, it's great for the soul. I've now started a pottery class which I absolutely LOVE - you can follow me on Snapchat to see more of what I get up to!
