Fragrances are so meaningful to me..
I always try and associate different fragrances with specific times/experiences. I love having attachments to scents because it takes me back to certain moments and I love that feeling of nostalgia. When the seasons change so do my fragrance choices and right now these three are amongst my Winter picks.
I have been wearing this fragrance intermittently for the last five years, there's something so sexy about this scent. It's deep, it's dark but at the same time sweet. It's what I would describe as a masculine fragrance and I adore this in the evenings. This fragrance has top notes of bergamot and plum, middle notes of rum and leather all balanced by base notes of amber, patchouli and milk. Dark Rum sits well on the skin and it specifically reminds me of November in NYC 2013!
I picked up this fragrance in World Duty Free on the way to America and it was one of those scents I instantly fell in love with. It's different to what I usually opt for but there's something so beautiful about it. The original Shalimar by Guerlain is an oriental, heavy, floral based fragrance but the souffle edition is a modern interpretation which is a softer, warmer version of the original. This scent has top notes of lemon, mandarin and bergamot, middle notes of jasmine and orange blossom all softened with base notes of musk and vanilla. I describe this as my grown up, womanly fragrance - it's fresh and sweet in the most mature way, I instantly I pick up the smell of frangipani which I love.
I've been wearing Black Opium EDP for quite some time now it's a staple scent for me but recently I've been reaching for the relatively newly launched EDT version. It smells so similar yet the differences are noticeable to a fragrance addict like myself. Despite being Eau de Toilette I find this lasts on the skin just as well as the Eau de Parfum. Black Opium is a fruity fragrance, however the key ingredient is coffee, this EDT version is a greener variation of the original. The fragrance has top notes are blackcurrant, pear and green mandarin, middle notes of jasmine, tea and coffee with the base notes of white musk and white wood. I find myself reaching for this scent on a daily basis.
These three definitely deserve a whiff!
