It’s a New Year that means it’s time to that take extra care.

I get so many emails about what products I use to take care of my nails so I decided I would do a little round up on some of the products I am currently using that have helped to keep my nails strong and healthy. Here’s a little background in my late teens (god that feels like a long time ago) I would only EVER have acrylic nails, back then I loved them - Now? Hell no! It’s not that I don’t like them, I’m just over them - especially after the damage they caused! I think there’s nothing more attractive than a woman who takes care of her nails and this a low down on what helps me with mine!

Leighton Denny Trio 3-in-1 Nail Buffer
I never used to bother with the 4-5-6-7 steps of filing, de-ridging and buffing of my nails it just seemed like such a faff and too abrasive for my liking. However I discovered the Leighton Denny Trio 3-in-1 Nail Buffer and decided to give it a go - AND it's JUST right for me, 3 simple steps which really have improved the surface and condition of my nails.

Leighton Denny Bio Build Serum
This has become a nail essential for me and I use it every time I paint my nails. I pump a small amount onto my nail bed and massage it all over the nail. It’s ideal for strengthening nails and as I rarely have unpainted nails it is imperative for me to keep them strong and as healthy as possible. I tend use this once I’ve removed my nail polish and leave it on my nails for about an hour before painting my nails.

OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go
This has to be one of my favourite cuticle oils of all time,  I’ve used this product for years and it works wonders. It has an easy brush applicator which I sweep over my cuticles and massage in before I paint my nails. I don’t know about you lot, but in the colder months my skin is ever so dry and this ensures the skin around my nails is soft, smooth and hydrated. It smells divine!

OPI Nail Envy
This is another product I have continued to use and repurchase for years. I used to suffer from discoloured  yellow, GROSS) nails, this was because I never gave my nails a rest from polish. Nail Envy was the godsend I needed, it helps to strengthen, condition and keep your nails looking tip top (no yellow here!). I particularly like using this on days where I’m taking a break, as it leaves your nails with a slight sheen so I don’t feel completely naked. It also acts as a great base prior to the application of polish.

Leighton Denny Bio Build Shield
This product is very similar to OPI’s Nail Envy, they both work in the same ways at strengthening the nail and acting as a base for nail colour. It's always handy for me to have numerous products that work similarly because I'm forever loosing things. Oops!

I always find it strange when people ask me what nail polish remover I use but maybe it’s not a strange thing to ask. For years I have always used the Nourishing Nail Polish Remover by Cutex, it’s for weak nails and while I don’t consider my nails to be weak I find this is the best remover I've tried. If I’m in a hurry, or can’t find cotton wool (which is often the case) I opt for Bourjois 1 Second Nail Polish Remover for Hands and Feet. You simply dip your nail into the sponge, twist and it’s gone - Magic! I haven't gone as far as using this for my foot haha, but for finger nails is does the trick. What I like about both these removers is that they don’t have that nasty chemical smell - Thank god!

Here’s to healthy nails in 2015!

Lots of Love
