Contouring has more recently become a beauty craze, it is now a step that many of us include in our daily make up routine.
While I try not to overly contour on a daily basis I do still like the idea of sculpting to enhance natural features. I'm personally a little scared of the contouring craze, I've seen it go wrong so many times that I'm always a little cautious when it comes to conquering the contour. When the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit landed on my desk I was eager to give it a go and see if the 3 step set would allow me to softly define the shape of my face. The texture of these powders is beautiful they are soft in tone, smooth to apply, buildable and blend so well - because of this it's really easy to achieve a naturally sculpted look.
I concentrated the darkest shade in the palette to the hollows of my cheeks, this really helps to mimic the natural shadow of the cheekbones. I used the middle warmer shade, as I would my bronzer - in the shape of the number 3, on the forehead, cheekbones and a touch along the jawline. The lightest shade I applied to the top of my cheeks and along my nose - I loved the brightness this add to my face, without the shimmer I usually get from my highlighters.
If you, like me are a little cautious of that contour but want to jump on that bandwagon this is a great kit to softly, sculpt your way those chiseled cheekbones - It really adds so much more dimension to the face. I've seen so many pictures online as to how sculpting can completely transform someones face, I generally prefer to enhance my features and this is a great set of powders to do that with.
The kit comes with this mini contour brush which I really like because it's small therefore it fits the hollows of the cheeks so well and you don't end up with too much product on the brush.
