Lip Lockdown - Are we tired of this tone yet?
It's got to the point where I have to collectively store my most frequently used lipsticks separately to the rest of my collection - Otherwise, it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
It was only when I decided to take a closer look at the contents that I discovered they are all different variations of the same tone. It's undeniable that lately the colour on my lips is often a muted mauve, a soft brown or on some occasions a slightly deeper berry. Looking at them all together I can't help but feel they are all a little too similar. I go through phases with tones and colours, especially lipsticks and then I find it hard to break away from the tone of the moment.
A soft nude with a slight pinky/peach undertone to it. This is just such an effortless product to wear, it sits so well on the lips and leaves them stained in a subtle 'I'm not trying very hard' kind of way. I love how comforting this product is on the lips. [Blogpost]
The colour of this is a little MORE nude than the YSL but again has the same pretty, peach tone to it. The texture is matte but not overly drying, although I don't find the longevity on the lips is as long as other matte lip products in this drawer. [Blogpost]
Possibly my favourite berry discovery of the year, not dark as I usually go but still rich in colour. The texture is of course my favourite and if you are a regular reader you will know the Sephora Cream Lip Stains are my number 1 lip product (NOW that's saying something) [Blogpost]
Worn in my most recent Favourites Video and will also be featured in a make up tutorial coming to your screens this Friday. This lipstick is still quite plum based but has more of a rich, reddish brown tone to it. It's a satin finish which surprisingly I am loving on my lips. [Blogpost]
I adore this lipstick, it's a beautiful mocha with a slight tinge of toffee. It's the perfect everyday lipstick for me as it goes with everything! It's an amplified lipstick which keeps my lips feeling hydrating and looking fuller for longer. I also love how this lipstick leaves my lips stained. [Blogpost]
Spirit has been one of my go-to nudes for many years, in some ways it's replaced my love for 'Modesty' (SSH!) It's a lot lighter on the lips than many of the lipsticks in this drawer, it's a beigey-brown with a soft pink tone to it. I love teaming this with a full on smokey eye. [Blogpost]
Oh wow! Shard was the real winner of last year when it came to berry lipsticks - It's more of a purple but with a strong wine tone to it. I love how Illamasqua lipsticks are so true to the colour in the bullet and this one is no exception. It's a matte which is perfect for the deep, dark colour of this lipstick. [Blogpost]
This can often look a little corpse like on me because it's a nude brown lipstick which has a grey undertone to it. Somehow, I still love it and if I feel like it's not warm enough I end up teaming it with a lip liner or mixing it with something else. This lipstick was released with the Glamore Nudes Collection, the texture is more satin like and it's a collection I really recommend you checking out if you are in search for that perfect nude. [Blogpost]
This lipstick has been worn WAY too much over the last month, so much so I'm contemplating replacing it in this drawer with another lippy which deserves more loving haha (Tragic, but true!) Again I spoke about this in my recent favourites video - It is just the ultimate Kylie Jenner lip colour (for my skin tone) and yes! my make up choices are being influenced by a 17 year old kid! [Blogpost]
Another newbie, but one I seem to save for special occasions. I don't know what it is, I'm sucker for packaging and the pretty Chanel packaging has me wanting to salvage it haha! The Rouge Coco lipstick are hydrating on the lips but without having a shiny/glossy finish. Again it's yet another muted mauve - #sorrynotsorry [Blogpost]
I also wanted to compile this post to try and convince myself that I need to stray away from this tone of lipstick! Maybe I will do another post like this in a months time and see what's changed? If anything?
