It's been a month since I first started my trial with the Philips Lumea and it's going really well . I was eager to use the device to see whether an at home hair removal experience could be as effective as the professional treatments in a clinic. As I'd mentioned in my first post excessive hair growth is something I've struggled with from a young age. Initially my expectations weren't too high but after a month of using the Philips Lumea, I have definitely been swayed.
The machine itself is easy to use, you simply charge it up and you're good to go. I'd say a full charge allows me treat both my legs and arms (these being the areas I chose to focus on). You have to ensure the level of intensity used is in accordance with your skin tone, all this information is found in the user guide - I use mine on a 2/3. Once the machine is in contact with your skin a green light signals, indicating the machine is ready - you press the button which transmits the light to the follicle of the hair. Also there has to be no hair in the area you are treating and the best way to remove hair is through shaving (not waxing).
I was a little worried about the pain I may feel using the Lumea, but surprisingly this was not an issue. A lot of people have asked "does it hurt?" Hurt is not really, the right word to describe it - it's almost like the flicking sensation of a rubber band against the skin. There are obviously certain areas that are a little more sensitive because the skin is thinner - but no, it doesn't 'hurt'. Trust me, if I can handle it, I'm sure you can! Like I mentioned in my first post I don't deal well with self inflicted pain, so if this hurt I wouldn't have been able to continue using it.
Most importantly I have already noticed a difference in my hair growth. There are certain areas on legs and arms where surprisingly no hair has grown. Personally it's amazing to see because I'm so used to being hairy. In regards to timing, it probably takes me an hour to treat both my legs and arms. It's something you can do whilst watching the TV or listening to music. I tend to do it during 'Me' time.
All in all, I'm excited to see what the next month holds! If any of you have any questions please don't hesitate, also if any of you have tried this do you have any tips? Did it work for you? Have you seen results?
