Yesterday evening I was invited down to a MAC BAFTA masterclass at the gorgeous Corinthia Hotel in London. MAC's Senior Artist Cher Webb talked us through the best ways to achieve that red carpet glamour and demonstrated two looks. The first look was fresh faced and relatively neutral. She then showed us how we could transform this look to the complete opposite by using minimal product. The second look was a complete contrast to the initial look, instead it was bold and dramatic.
The base Cher decided to use was the MAC Face and Body she worked this into the skin using a MAC 188 brush. This gave such a beautiful skin like finish, she then touched up the base with a combination of concealer shaded which is part of a brand new MAC concealer palette which is coming out later this year - Little exclusive for you there. The base was set with Mineralze Skin finish powder. Cher then used a creme blush in 'Something Special' to add a very natural, flushed look to the cheeks. I loved the finish of these together. To highlight the cheekbones Cher used MAC Lustre drops this is a gorgeous product I bought these years ago when they were released with a collection. They are now part of the permanent in the collection. The beautiful liquid consistency blends so well into foundation and looks perfect patted on to the higher panes of the face.
Eyes were kept pretty neutral and Cher applied MAC's Paint Pot in 'Groundwork' to the eyelid and then applied MAC Pro long wear eyeliner in 'Lord it Up' smudged in to the lash line. After this she applied layers of mascara to the lashes on the top and bottom.
The lips were kept nude but the shade was beautiful with such a gorgeous warm peach tone to it. The lipstick was a Pro Longwear lipstick in the shade 'In to the Futrue' I loved this, it tied in so well with the cream blush.
Look One - The Neutral Look
To take this look to the next level Cher begun by applying the most amazing orange Pro Longwear lipstick in the shade 'Good to Go' and the pro long wear pencil in 'What a Blast!'. Seriously how AMAZING is this lip combination - this is something I would rock without hesitation. I love the contrast of the lip with the gorgeous tone of the models skin.
After the lips Cher decided to work on the eyes some more, she applied false lashes in Number 3 and 'Feline' eyeliner. Feline eyeliner used to be a limited edition from MAC but it's now a permanent black eye pencil it is so intense it is amazing. Cher used this in the waterline to begin with. I really liked the looks like this.
She then showed us how to go further and applied 'Feline' to the top lash line and begun to smudge it out. I love the final look and how dramatic it is in comparison to the first look created by Cher.
Look Two - The Dramatic Look
It just shows you can take elements of a look like this and adapt it to your personal make up preferences!
What do you guys think of this look? I might try and recreate this look. MAC are the official make up partners of the BAFTAS, most of the stars actually come to the hotel suite where the event was based to get glammed up on the night by the wonderful MAC team. Celebrity life ay!?
Lots of Love
